POS versus delivery platform: the actual difference

This is the first question at any meeting, and it is the right one. iiko, R-Keeper, Poster and Jowi are strong systems and we do not replace them — we connect to them.

What a POS does

A POS is accounting. It knows dish cost, runs inventory and write-offs, calculates revenue and shift reports, handles fiscalisation and closes the shift.

All of that concerns what happens inside the venue. Replacing a POS with a delivery platform is a bad idea, and we do not propose it.

Where the POS stops

A POS is poorly suited to what happens outside the venue, because it was never meant to.

It gives you no storefront, does not collect aggregator orders, does not manage couriers, and does not know your customer as a person — it sees receipts, not people.

How they work together

The split is simple: the POS stays the system of record, the platform becomes the system of sales and operations.

Menu and stop-lists live in the POS and are pulled into the platform. Orders from any channel go into the POS in full and appear in standard reports.

When you do not need this

If you do not deliver, you do not need this — a POS is enough. If you deliver through a single aggregator at low volume, you probably do not need it either.

It starts to make sense when you have more than two channels, when manual re-entry starts affecting delivery times, and when you want repeat orders to bypass commission.

FAQ

Do we have to replace our POS?

No. Delever integrates with sixteen POS systems including iiko, R-Keeper, Poster, Jowi, Syrve, Paloma and Clopos. Your accounting stays where it is.

What if outlets in our chain use different POS systems?

A common situation in chains that grew by acquisition. Each outlet connects to its own POS, while orders, couriers and analytics converge at brand level.

Our POS has a delivery module. Why is it not enough?

A POS delivery module usually covers order intake and kitchen printing. What it typically lacks: your own sales channels, aggregator connections, a courier app, and customer-base marketing.
